Day 30: Inspired By A Tutorial... Last Day!!!

So here we are, It's the last day of the 30 day challenges. I can't believe I made it and that I didn't miss a day. I had a lot of fun, and I stepped out of my comfort zone a few times. I'm really glad I did this challenge. I now have a few new techniques in my arsenal. All that said, I'm really happy that it's over lol. There were so many days that I wanted to do something that didn't work with the days theme, like I finally bought Ninja Polish "Sticks N Stones" and I've been dying to wear it. Now I'll finally be able to :)

Alright enough blah blah blah, and on to the last challenge. Today is "Inspired By A Tutorial." It was kinda funny because I kept looking online to figure out what I was going to do, only to remember that I had already decided. It's been a long weekend. I've been dealing with migraines for the past 2 days.

What I decided to do is actually my second go at this technique and the first time wasn't that great, and I figured out a trick on accident from doing yesterday's mani.

Some call it the spun sugar mani or the drizzle... whatever you call it I really like the effect. I started with a base of 2 coats of Sinful Colors "Jungle Trail"

For the "drizzle" I used Wet N Wild "Miami Spirit" and...

China Glaze "Under The Boardwalk"

The trick I learned to make this easier was to put a few drops of polish, about 5 or 6, on a palette and to let it sit for a few minutes until it starts drying. Then using a dotting tool mix it around and, Volia!, stringy polish!

I really like how it turned out but I still felt like it needed a little sparkle :)

So I added a coat of Northern Lights :)

This time it turned out a lot better the my first try... which you can find here.

I guess the second time is a charm for me on this one. Now that I know how to do it I know I'll be doing it again in the future. It is a pretty messy and time consuming technique, but I think it is worth it.

Well that ends the 30 day challenge! Thank you so much for reading and following my progress. This has really gotten me into the routine of blogging a lot more then I use to and I am going to try and keep it up. I don't know if I will do every day, but I will do more then a couple times a month.

Don't forget to check out the other ladies below, and again thanks so much for reading and following my blog.

Day 29: Inspired By The Supernatural

Only one more day left!!! I really thought I would have dropped out of this challenge a llloooonnnggg time ago. I think that having my friend Rachel from Polished Criminails start the challenge made me keep at it. It always helps to have a friend doing something along with you to keep you motivated.

So today is supernatural day... I had no clue what to do. I stopped at Sally Beauty on my way home from the dog park today and I was so happy that I did. They had just put out the China Glaze Halloween collection. I ended up getting the 4 piece set and then the other 3 separate polishes to complete the whole set. I really wanted to use a few of them so this is what I came up with....

These are the polishes I used, only 2 of them are from the new Halloween set.
Orly "Au Champagne", "Faint o Heart", Wet N Wild "French White Creme", China Glaze "Rougish Red", "Liquid Leather", "Immortal", and "Ghoulish Glow"

lol Yeah this is my lovely creation lol. I really wanted some evil eyes. So I used "Immortal" as the base on my ring, middle, and thumb nails, and "Faint of Heart" as the base on my other 2 nails.

Doing the best I could I used "Liquid Leather" to make a headstone and my eye shapes.

My thumb is suppose to be a full moon, and the pinkie is suppose to me red eyes looking out from the mist.

Hehehe I also used some glow-in-the-dark polish :)

Alright, only one day left. Make sure to check back to see it. Thank you all so much for reading. And check out the ladies below!

Day 28: Inspired By A Flag

We are getting down to the last few days. I'm so surprised that I stayed in this challenge so long.
 Yah Me!!

Ok well today is "Inspired By A Flag" I'm mostly German so this was a no-brainer for me :)
These are the polishes I used: OPI "Coney Island Cotton Candy", China Glaze "Liquid Leather", Pixi "Fresh Red", and KleanColor "Metallic Yellow"

I really love how this turned out. I tried something I've been wanting to try for awhile...
I was only going to do the fishtail on my ring finger, but decided to do it on my thumb too :)
It took me a couple rows to catch on to the pattern.

I wanted to re-create my dots manicure from earlier in this challenge, so I thought this would be a good chance for it. I was going to do a gold base, but I thought it would look better to do dots in all 3 colors and a kinda naked nail.

I really love how these 2 techniques look together. I think they compliment each other.

So what do you think? Do you like it as much as I do?

Thanks so much for reading and check back tomorrow for my "Supernatural" mani... again no clue what I'm going to do, but I'll figure it out when I sit down to do my nails lol :)

Day 27: Inspired By Artwork

"Inspired By Artwork"... I like art but I'm not really into art. I don't know who artists are unless they are super famous.. Like Di Vinci or Van Gogh... I love the art museum, I like the colors and I envy the artists. I'm not very artistic and I can hardly draw a stick person to came my life. Anyways, this was another challenge that I had no clue what I was going to do until I sat down. So I have cookies for whoever can figure out what this mani was inspired by :)

A lot of colors went into this mani, I think this is the most polishes I've used in one mani ever lol.

L'Oreal "Notting Hill Blues", Essence"Date With The Night", "Black is Black", "Can't Cheat On Me"

Sinful Colors "Cinderella", "Aquamarine", "Lavender", "Let's Meet", and "Unicorn"

I used 2 coats of L'Oreal "Notting Hill Blues" on all nails. I think it is a lovely dusty blue, and it applied beautifully. (Left Hand)

I used a couple different sized dotting tools and a small nail art brush to apply everything. I'm still learning how to use the nail art brushes to create the look I want. (Right Hand)

Thumb on my right hand

  Right Hand

 Left Hand

I topped everything off with a coat of Northern Lights to add some sparkle.

So... Did you figure out what inspired my nails??? It's ok if you didn't I'm not a great artist... but if you didn't know here it is :)...

Yep "Starry Night" is what inspired my nails :)

All of the polishes except the Essence and "Cinderella"

Well that's it for today. Thanks for reading and check back tomorrow for my flag nails. Don't forget to check out the ladies other arty nails below.

Day 26: Inspired By A Pattern

This was one I had planned for awhile. I've been wanting to try out the this snakeskin technique since I saw it months ago. It didn't turn out the way I hoped but I still like it. I think there is a a need for practice doing this and I plan to do so. My "Inspiration" was my snake Lily:

This picture is over a year old and she is about twice the size. I would have taken a picture with my nails holding her... but she needs to be fed and I don't feel like getting bitten tonight lol.

I started out with 2 coats of Revlon "Bare Bones" I really like this color and I find myself reaching for it often.

On my ring and pointer finger I painted 2 coats of Essie "Mamba" and I also used it for the scales over "Bare Bones"

For the 3 middle nails I used Essie "Mink Muffs" for the scales.

To make the scales I used tulle wrapped around my nails. You can find a few tutorials on youtube on how to do this.
I think next time I am going to try sponging on the polish instead of painting it on.

I really like how this turned out and I think it does look very snake like :)

I totally think of my Lily when I look at my nails and I hope to be able to perfect this technique in the future.

Thank you for reading and I hope you check back tomorrow to see my nails inspired by artwork... not sure what to do lol.

Day 25: Inspired By Fashion

"Inspired By Fashion".... I don't do fashion. I know nothing about fashion. My idea of a cute outfit is a t-shirt with some silly picture and a nice fitting pair of jeans. I'll never understand why anyone would spend a crazy amount of money for a pair of jeans, let alone a Coach purse, or any of those other brands that coats more then my car payment. Anyways, the point I'm making is... I know nothing about fashion. I don't really care either to be honest. So this one was really hard for me. I browsed google looking at fashion week photos and I found a few I liked. Here is my inspiration:

I've always thought Indian clothes were so beautiful. I love the patterns and the colors. I thought this would be easy for me to do and fun..... And then it snuck up on me.... "Shitty Nail Night" It was one of those night that no matter what I did something went wrong. The polish smudged, accidentally dinged your freshly painted nail, your stamping won't transfer... pretty much all the worst crap happens on that night and there is nothing you can do about. That was totally my night. It was horrible, and ended with a big nail fail and I almost didn't want to post, but I missed a day yeh and I want to make it the full 30 days. So here it is.

These are the polishes I used : Sally Hansen "Ivory Skull", Spoiled "Checkin' Into Rehab", OPI "Suzi & The 7 Dusseldorfs" and KleanColor "Metallic Yellow" I forgot to take a picture on the unnamed gold striper.

I started out with 2 coats of Sally Hansen "Ivory Skull"I really don't care for the formula. It's of but I wouldn't call it my go to white polish. I'm still searching for a decent one.

I then painted one half of each nail with Spoiled "Checkin' Into Rehab" The other half of my nails and my entire ring fingers were painted with OPI "Suzi & The 7 Dusseldorfs"

The gold stripes are from an unnamed nail art striper, and the failed attempt at stamping was done with KleanColor "Metallic Yellow"

Nothing wanted to work, and I ended up just giving up. I almost didn't even finish the mani, but I figured I'd rather have a finished Hot Mess of a Mani, then a half-assed, half-finished pile o' poop. So aren't you the lucky ones that get to step up and see the Finished Hot Mess lol

I could have done better, but I just didn't have the time for a re-do. So there you have it. Hot Mess Fail and all.

Thank you for reading and please check back tomorrow. I'm planning on trying something new that I've never done, but have been wanting to. Also check out the ladies below :)
