Glowing Purple

So today it's going to be kinda quick. I'm tired and been going through a lot, but I still wanted to  post something. I ended up calling into work today due to the snow we got last night and when I tried to leave my rental van (it's a beast) got stuck in the snow and it took about half an hour and 3 nice neighbors to help me get it out. I drove it right back into the garage lol. Anyways....

This is a mani that I had done awhile ago and it's just been sitting in a folder. I felt it needed to be seen :)

I started out with 2 coats of China Glaze "Gothic Lolita" This is one of my favorite light purples. It's so pretty and the formula is wonderful. It had a slight blue sheen to it and makes it different then most like purples.

I then topped it with 2 coats of Layla Ceramic Effects "CE 52" Sadly these polishes are labeled with names, which is unfortunate since they really deserve names.

I know that "Gothic Lolita" isn't really visible but I think it helps this polish really glow from within.

I love how this turned out. It is so beautiful.

I can never leave things alone so for an accent nail I used 2 coats of FingerPaints "Santa's Magic"

"Santa's Magic" is a chunky holographic polish, and I think it goes well will this mani.

I really love how this turned out and I can't wait to try out some of the other Ceramic Effects polishes that I bought.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this short post. If you got snow I hope you had a better day then me. Have a great night!

Polish Stand Tutorial

I know that it has taken me forever to get this posted. I first showed a picture in this post Handmade Polish Stands and it looks like this:

I love these stands and I made them to fit on top of my melmers. You can change the sizes to fit where ever you want to put them. I have 2 that I've had since my original post back in October, and they are filled. They have shown no signs of weakening or anything. So these are very sturdy.

Alright here we go:

I started with a foam board that I bought at the Dollar Store and I used hot glue to secure everything. Here are the pieces and their measurements that you need to cut.

For the 2 main pieces which I cut out first were the back side and the base. You can make these any size you wish and pretty much the only thing you have to change is the length of the shelf pieces shown below.

I found that adding edges to the sides help to keep the bottles from sliding over the edge. Gotta protect those  bottles. :)

To start putting everything together I start with gluing the shelf pieces together. You have to make sure that you put them all together the same way otherwise things won't line up correctly. Make sure that the side shelf piece it laid on top of the top shelf piece, here is a close up of what I mean

Make sure that all the shelves are put together the same way. After gluing each piece together and pressing them together with a little pressure, I like to add another layer of the glue and I run my finger over it to kinda spread it out. Don't worry you won't burn your finger it will just stick a little harden. I find it fun to peel it off lol.

Once you have all the shelves then you have to glue them all together and you will get something that looks like the above. When you glue them together, make sure that they are all sitting the same way and that you glue them together with the side piece on top of the top of the shelf below it. You will get what looks like a staircase.

Next you will glue on the side pieces. I find it easier to start with the bottom shelf and then work your way up. If you wanted to make this one solid piece I'm sure you could do that, but I just found it to line up better and make gluing easier since hot glue hardens somewhat quickly.

Option: I didn't take a picture of this but I added a piece on the under side of the stair part to create a little more support and to also push the side out since they do pull towards each other a little. Plus this makes lining up the base and back piece with the stairs.

I then glue the staircase to the bottom base .To do this just line up the back edge with the back sides of the stairs, that creates the bottom shelf.

The second to the last step is to attach the back piece, this attaches everything together and creates the back of the top shelf.

The very last thing to attach is the edges to keep the bottles from sliding off the sides. I also ran a couple lines of hot glue over the shelves and smoothed them with my finger. I did this so the bottles would have something to kinda stick to and not slide of the front of the shelves. Another option it to add some grippy shelf liner to keep the bottles from moving. Once this is done you can pretty much do what ever you want to decorate them.

You know have your own homemade nail polish stand and it really only costs about $2.00 (maybe a little more if you don't already have a hot glue gun, and if you want to buy something to dress it up.)

There you have it. If you have any questions about this tutorial please feel free to ask. I will answer them, just leave it in the comments section below. I hope this makes sense. If you make a stand using this tutorial please feel free to share pictures, or links to blog posts, in the comments section.

Blow Me One More Kiss

So without going into it took much, I just ended my relationship with my now ex-fiance. I was depressed but today a song come on that made me feel a bit better and gave me an idea for a mani. The song, if you didn't catch the title, was Pink "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" Here is what I came out with.

I started out with 2 coats of Barielle "Night Moves" which I just picked up today at TJ Maxx for $2.00. The coverage is great and the formula was just as good. I don't have a whole lot of polishes from this brand so I was happy to find it, along with a beautiful blue called "Sky's The Limit" also for $2.00

I decided to layer 2 coats of Sinful Colors "Charmed" which is another polish I bought today at Walgreens for $1.00 using the current coupon. I applied this polish to all of my nails except for my middle fingers hehe. I should have used a glue base, but I wasn't planning on using a glitter polish until I picked it up lol.

So for my middle finger I stamped kissy lips using 2 KleanColor polishes "Metallic Pink" and....

and KleanColor "Metallic Red" Both of these worked awesome for stamping!! I have a few other of the metallic ones and can't want to use them for stamping.

I really like how this turned out and it was better then I pictured in my head. And the kisses on the middle finger is kinda like a farewell to a toxic relationship, even though it still hurts.

I love it! Well that's it for today. I hope to get my tutorial for my polish stands up soon. Ugg I fail so hard, but I took the pictures I just need to write up the post.

Thanks for reading! If you haven't seen the video or heard the song here it is for you, Enjoy!

Anti-Valentines Mani

So, I'm not really one for Valentines Day. I've never really had a good one, and I just try to forget about it. I know I'm horrible lol. And the sad part is, I'm even single and I still don't like it. Oh well. Here is my Anti-Valentines manicure.

I started out with 3 coats of O.P.I. "My Vampire Is Buff" I really wanted to like this polish, but the formula wasn't that great and it took 3 coats to get it some what even. I was hoping it would be a lot better then it was. Oh well moving forward.

For the stamping I used Sinful Colors "Truth Or Dare" and Pure Ice "Black Rage"

For the stamping images I used one of my new XXL Shany plates, That I just love!!!
I used XXL plate #2

All of the images except the solid heart are in these rows.

All in all I like how it turned out and I love these new plates, so I think I'm going to be doing a lot more stamping.

I finally took pics for the tutorial on my nail polish racks and I hope to have it up before the weekend.

Well that's all for today. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a good v-day even if I don't lol

Disturbed Polish - Redneck X-Mas

Edit: I have been told by Annette, the owner of Disturbed Polish, that she now uses a new base, so any mention of the smell in my posts regarding these polishes is no longer and issue. I hope that everyone gives this brand a chance because I think they are awesome, and everyone should own at least a few.

First I want to say congratulations to Melissa for winning my "Just Because Giveaway" I've already emailed her and got a response.

Ok, now on the the polish!

I know that X-mas is long since past, but I still loved wearing this polish. It's so pretty! I know that it is no longer being sold, but I still wanted to share it :)

This is "Redneck X-Mas" It's like Christmas in a bottle! There is various sizes of hex and square glitter in here. and the colors are red, green, gold, white, and silver.

I had a very hard time finding a good polish to layer this over, but I'm very happy with my choice.

This was my first time using a Layla polish from the Softouch line. I wasn't sure if I would like the finish since I normally don't like matte polishes. I love the finish! I think I'm going to have to pick up a few more of these. The bottles don't have names, they are just numbered this is #02 no name, which is a shame.

I felt this was a good match because of the subtle gold shimmer. The formula was great and applied like a dream.

I started out with 1 coat of "Redneck X-Mas" like the other Disturbed Polish the formula was great and no fishing or dabbing was needed. The glitter laid smooth and evenly.

I felt that one coat wasn't enough....

So I added a second coats, and was very happy with the outcome. I realized during editing these pictures that my clean up wasn't that great so I'm really sorry about that and I hope you can look past it. Not sure what happened.

I really love these polishes and I can't wait to place my next order. I think the pictures speak for themselves. The only thing bad I can say about these polishes is the smell, but it doesn't affect their application or the beauty of them. I think the smell is common in indie brands. Not that big of a deal.

Not sure what else to say, so here are some more pictures!

Well that's it for today. I hope you check out the other swatches from Disturbed Polish that I've done. The polishes are $7 and are 3 free.

Thanks for reading and I hope everyone has a great weekend!
