Glowing Purple

So today it's going to be kinda quick. I'm tired and been going through a lot, but I still wanted to  post something. I ended up calling into work today due to the snow we got last night and when I tried to leave my rental van (it's a beast) got stuck in the snow and it took about half an hour and 3 nice neighbors to help me get it out. I drove it right back into the garage lol. Anyways....

This is a mani that I had done awhile ago and it's just been sitting in a folder. I felt it needed to be seen :)

I started out with 2 coats of China Glaze "Gothic Lolita" This is one of my favorite light purples. It's so pretty and the formula is wonderful. It had a slight blue sheen to it and makes it different then most like purples.

I then topped it with 2 coats of Layla Ceramic Effects "CE 52" Sadly these polishes are labeled with names, which is unfortunate since they really deserve names.

I know that "Gothic Lolita" isn't really visible but I think it helps this polish really glow from within.

I love how this turned out. It is so beautiful.

I can never leave things alone so for an accent nail I used 2 coats of FingerPaints "Santa's Magic"

"Santa's Magic" is a chunky holographic polish, and I think it goes well will this mani.

I really love how this turned out and I can't wait to try out some of the other Ceramic Effects polishes that I bought.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this short post. If you got snow I hope you had a better day then me. Have a great night!

Two Polish Comparisons

I haven't done one of these posts in awhile, so I thought it was time. Since this is a comparison post, the clean up isn't perfect.

The first comparison is:
Ulta "Material Girl" vs Zoya "Blaze"
In the bottle they looked kinda similar, but on the nail.... Not even close lol. All nails are 2 coats.

"Material Girl" is more of a berry color where "Blaze" is on the reddish side. both have a scattered holo.

I personally prefer "Blaze" I didn't really care for "Material Girl" once I saw it on the nail. "Blaze" is a bit more shiny too.

Since I didn't really care for "Material Girl" I put it up on my blog sale, and it is already on it's way to a new home :)

The next comparison is"
China Glaze "Glistening Snow" vs. FingerPaints "Sparkle and Snowflake"

First I just want to note that while taking pictures I somehow scrapped my nail on my ring finger. I didn't realize this until after I took my pictures and was removing my polish... sorry :(

I love "Glistening Snow" and I've already bought a back up bottle. In the bottles these polishes look a lot alike. On the nail they are very similar, but they have a few slight differences.

The first nails are 1 coat over black. The next two nails are 2 coats on the bare nail. "Glistening Snow" is a more dense and opaque polish and can be worn alone, I've done it. "Sparkle and Snowflake" is more of a topper and less dense. Not a stand alone polish.

I love both of these polishes and they have a loving home. I think they are both great and the formulas are smooth. If I had to choose just one, it would be "Glistening Snow" but i don't have to choose so I'm keeping them both lol.

Well I hope this post was helpful. If you'd like to see more comparison posts please let me know. If no one really wants to see them then I guess there is no point in posting them.

Thanks for reading, and if you haven't done so already please enter my giveaway.

Day 20: Water Marble

Ugh.... I've been dreading this day since the start of this challenge. I can never get it to work. And by the off chance I get a decent design something goes wrong lol.... I must say I am proud of myself. I did a decent job... It took me hours (Really hours) but I got something worth showing. I only did one hand, because 1.) I was exhausted by the time I got on a roll, 2.) I felt like I had wasted a lot of polish with all my fails, and 3.) I just couldn't justify more of that hell to only wear it one day. So here is my result...

I started out with 2 coats of OPI "My Boyfriend Scales Walls" which is one of my favorite underwear polishes.

See, not so bad huh? Well the polishes I used were Finger Paints "Sexy Sundress"

 Finger Paints"Flip Flop Fuchsia"

 Finger Paints "Beach Bound"

and Nina Ultra Pro "Anaconda Liked It" Which I think is a really weird name for this polish... but whatever lol.
All in all I think it was a win. I still need to work on it. My main problem is getting the polish to spread and not just sit where it is dropped. I've tried different containers, different water, different polish, and even different temperatures. Nothing seems to do the trick. Oh well we can't all be good at everything.

Tomorrow starts the "Inspired by" part of the challenge. We are now 2/3of the way through this. I'm proud that I've stuck it out this long. thanks for reading and encouraging me throughout this challenge with your comments. Check back for tomorrow's mani and remember to check out the other blogs below!!

Day 12: Stripes

It's Breakfast At Tiffany's today. It's stripes day. What I had originally had planned for this mani ended up becoming something totally different.

I started out with 2 coats of Finger Paints "Tiffany Imposter", which is my untried polish, but after looking at it I decided to make it look like a Tiffany's box. I've never shopped there or even looked at anything there, but I knew that their boxes were kind of an icon.

I used a striper that I picked up at Sally's Beauty for a buck on clearance. It doesn't have a name. It's like a satin white, and I thought it would be perfect for ribbon. I didn't want all the nails to look the same so I switched up the directions of the lines.

I added some light blue rhinestones to added a little something. I thought they made the mani look a lot nicer. I know it's a pretty simple mani, but I still like it.

Well that's it for today. Check back tomorrow for animal print nails, and check out the other mani's the ladies have done below.

Day 10: Gradient Nails

Today is gradient nails. As promised this is the last time you will see gradient nails for the rest of this challenge :) I wanted to use the Wet N Wild Saved by the Bell collection.

Wet N Wild "Chick Magnet Zack", "Nerd Alert: Screech", "Fashionista Lisa", "Pom Pom Kelly", "Straight A Jesse", and "Pin'em Slater"

I rally shouldn't have used the pink and purple together on the same nail. I think they looked to similar to make a good gradient. The other 4 colors worked great together. If I were to re-do this mani I would mix the colors up a little more.
I tried to change up both hands and switched the patterns so they weren't the same on each hand.

Too add a little more to the mani I added a coat of Finger Paints "Sparkle Top Coat"

It added a subtle glitter to each nail.

To finish it all up I stamped over the gradient with a zebra print. I'm still getting the hang of stamping so it's not perfect.

Well that's that. Tomorrow starts the patterns part of the challenge so I think I'll be trying my hand at stamping some more. Check back tomorrow for my polka dot mani. Thanks for reading and don't forget to check out the other ladies below.

Oh and I'm getting closer to my next giveaway.... Keep an eye out... just a hint, the prize isn't nail polish this time :)

Tri-Color Gradient

I hope your not tired of gradients yet, because I have another one for you, my dear readers, today!

I started with 2 coats of a silver Essence polish, but forgot to take pictures :/

I used the technique of painting the polish on the sponge and then applying to the nail. I had a few requests to do a tutorial so I will be trying to do that this weekend.

Ok so the colors that I used for this mani are....

Spoiled "Tip Your Waitress" - One of my current favorite pinks

 FingerPaints "Silkscreen Green"

 and Hard Candy "Frenzy"

I really liked the way this came out. In person it looks kinda metallic due to the base being silver.

I felt like it needed a little something and I knew to not use a chunky glitter, since I didn't like my last mani, so I went a little more subtle.

I decide to use OTD Northern Lights :)

I LOVE IT!!! I think it gives this mani a little sparkle without over powering it.

 *drool* :D

Well, that's it for today. Thank you for reading. If you haven't already, don't forget to enter my giveaway that is ending in a few days!!!
