Anti-Valentines Mani

So, I'm not really one for Valentines Day. I've never really had a good one, and I just try to forget about it. I know I'm horrible lol. And the sad part is, I'm even single and I still don't like it. Oh well. Here is my Anti-Valentines manicure.

I started out with 3 coats of O.P.I. "My Vampire Is Buff" I really wanted to like this polish, but the formula wasn't that great and it took 3 coats to get it some what even. I was hoping it would be a lot better then it was. Oh well moving forward.

For the stamping I used Sinful Colors "Truth Or Dare" and Pure Ice "Black Rage"

For the stamping images I used one of my new XXL Shany plates, That I just love!!!
I used XXL plate #2

All of the images except the solid heart are in these rows.

All in all I like how it turned out and I love these new plates, so I think I'm going to be doing a lot more stamping.

I finally took pics for the tutorial on my nail polish racks and I hope to have it up before the weekend.

Well that's all for today. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a good v-day even if I don't lol

Candy Canes

Today's theme is gingerbread and candy canes, I didn't have any stamping plates with gingerbread men so I decided to just do candy cane striped nails. I'm sure a lot of people did it so it's not that original, but I think my colors might make my nails stand out a little from the rest of the crowd.

I started off with 2 coats of  Sally Hansen "Ivory Skull"

I then applied about 5-6 pieces of striping tape on each nail and applied two thin coats of O.P.I. "The Spy Who Loved Me" on my pointer, middle, and pinkie nails. I really like this red because of the beautiful shimmer in the the polish.

The color is a little off, but you can see the shimmer on the left side of the nail. It's more visible in real life.

I the used 2 thin coats of one of my favorite greens China Glaze "I'm With The Lifeguard" on my thumb, and ring finger. I switched the direction of the tape on my ring finger, just because. and my right hand is the opposite direction.

I know that it's a little sloppy, but I have excuses lol. I ended up doing this mani last night and nothing wanted to go right. First, my left hand slipped at some point and somehow I broke my ring finger nail (but I guess it is ok because now it's the same length as the rest of my nails.) An odd thing about me is I HATE clipping my nails just because one breaks. So most of the time my nails are all different lengths, but I just can't do it. As of right now all of my nails are somewhat the same length as all the others.

Anyways, I think that the neon green kinda makes my mani a little different then the usual candy cane look.

I hurried to add top coat since it was getting really late and I needed to go to bed so I got a bit of streaking. Not very noticeable from a far lol.

So these are my candy cane nails, which also happens to be one of the things I actually like about the holidays, and each year then come out with even more flavors :)

Snowflakes and Snowfall

So this is the start of a new challenge. I'm looking forward to this one since it's only twice a week instead of every day. It was set up by Crumpet's Nail Tarts, a facebook group that I just recently joined. If you want to join in on the challenge, just request to join the group! I was so excited that I did this mani a couple of days ago :)

Here is the schedule for the challenge:
When I saw snowflakes, I knew exactly what I was going to do.

I started out with 2 coats of O.P.I. "DS Magic" It is a beautiful blue and I found myself staring at my nails because it is very eye catching. I got a few compliment (including from my boss, who's male) on my nails too.

The formula was perfect and it applied great. You can kinda see more of a purple flash on the ring finger, that was from me applying a coat of Max Factor "Fantasy Fire" but I didn't like it so I covered it up.

China Glaze "Make A Spectacle" reminded me of snow, even though it was from the Halloween collection this year. I did 2 coats on my ring fingers for an accent.

Then using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri "Silver Sweep" and stamping plates RA-119 and BM-323 I applied pretty pretty snowflakes on my nails. I was so happy that it turned out how I pictured it in my head.

I've tried stamping in the past with mixed results, but I finally realized that it's all in the polish you use. I guess the Insta-Dri polishes are great for stamping.

Well that's my Snowflake nails. Make sure to check out the other girls nails and thanks for reading!

Dupe Alert(s)!!!

I have 3 comparisons for you today. One I just found by accident, and the other 2 I suspected, but still got them... just in case lol.

The first one I found just a few hours ago when I sat down to do my nails. I wanted to do something fall-ish so I picked out an orange... little did I know it was a dupe for one of my favorite polishes (win for me!)

Salon Perfect 'Goldfish" and China Glaze "Riveting"

"Riveting" is one of my favorite polishes, and I use it a lot (as you can see by the fill line hehe)

In my opinion these are total dead on dupes. "Goldfish" was bought at Walmart not too long ago. I'm not sure if it is still available or not, but I'm glad I got it. Even though I have a backup of "Riveting" (or 2) I'm still glad to have this one?

I think the only difference between these two is the drying time. "Goldfish" dried so fast I was shocked. I'm not sure if this is the case with the Salon Perfect brand or if it was just his polish.

 I just love this color!!!

Next up:
China Glaze "Def Defying" and Finger Paints "Sexy Sundress"

"Def Defying" is part of the new Cirque du Soleil collection that is coming out in December, or in some place it's out now, and "Sexy Sundress" was from the past summer collection. I have seen this at a couple Sally Beauty's in the clearance section.

When I first saw pictures of "Def Defying" the first thing that came to my mind was "Wow, that looks a lot like "Sexy Sundress"!!" I was pretty close in my assumption. DD is just a hair darker the SS.

I think these are close enough to only need one, unless your obsessive like me. What do you think?

And lastly:
O.P.I. "Goldeneye" and Sally Hansen "Gilded Lily"

For this polish I did one coat of each over black and then 2 coats on my naked nail.

I think that these are very close to being dupes. As you can see though "Gilded Lily" is more dense and opaque. I prefer it over "Goldeneye" and I decided that I don't need both so I'm probably going to add it to my blog sale.

Well that's all I have for today. Thanks for reading and if you haven't done so yet don't forget to enter my giveaways.
 Ends on November 30th

Ends on December 15th

Day 28: Inspired By A Flag

We are getting down to the last few days. I'm so surprised that I stayed in this challenge so long.
 Yah Me!!

Ok well today is "Inspired By A Flag" I'm mostly German so this was a no-brainer for me :)
These are the polishes I used: OPI "Coney Island Cotton Candy", China Glaze "Liquid Leather", Pixi "Fresh Red", and KleanColor "Metallic Yellow"

I really love how this turned out. I tried something I've been wanting to try for awhile...
I was only going to do the fishtail on my ring finger, but decided to do it on my thumb too :)
It took me a couple rows to catch on to the pattern.

I wanted to re-create my dots manicure from earlier in this challenge, so I thought this would be a good chance for it. I was going to do a gold base, but I thought it would look better to do dots in all 3 colors and a kinda naked nail.

I really love how these 2 techniques look together. I think they compliment each other.

So what do you think? Do you like it as much as I do?

Thanks so much for reading and check back tomorrow for my "Supernatural" mani... again no clue what I'm going to do, but I'll figure it out when I sit down to do my nails lol :)

Day 25: Inspired By Fashion

"Inspired By Fashion".... I don't do fashion. I know nothing about fashion. My idea of a cute outfit is a t-shirt with some silly picture and a nice fitting pair of jeans. I'll never understand why anyone would spend a crazy amount of money for a pair of jeans, let alone a Coach purse, or any of those other brands that coats more then my car payment. Anyways, the point I'm making is... I know nothing about fashion. I don't really care either to be honest. So this one was really hard for me. I browsed google looking at fashion week photos and I found a few I liked. Here is my inspiration:

I've always thought Indian clothes were so beautiful. I love the patterns and the colors. I thought this would be easy for me to do and fun..... And then it snuck up on me.... "Shitty Nail Night" It was one of those night that no matter what I did something went wrong. The polish smudged, accidentally dinged your freshly painted nail, your stamping won't transfer... pretty much all the worst crap happens on that night and there is nothing you can do about. That was totally my night. It was horrible, and ended with a big nail fail and I almost didn't want to post, but I missed a day yeh and I want to make it the full 30 days. So here it is.

These are the polishes I used : Sally Hansen "Ivory Skull", Spoiled "Checkin' Into Rehab", OPI "Suzi & The 7 Dusseldorfs" and KleanColor "Metallic Yellow" I forgot to take a picture on the unnamed gold striper.

I started out with 2 coats of Sally Hansen "Ivory Skull"I really don't care for the formula. It's of but I wouldn't call it my go to white polish. I'm still searching for a decent one.

I then painted one half of each nail with Spoiled "Checkin' Into Rehab" The other half of my nails and my entire ring fingers were painted with OPI "Suzi & The 7 Dusseldorfs"

The gold stripes are from an unnamed nail art striper, and the failed attempt at stamping was done with KleanColor "Metallic Yellow"

Nothing wanted to work, and I ended up just giving up. I almost didn't even finish the mani, but I figured I'd rather have a finished Hot Mess of a Mani, then a half-assed, half-finished pile o' poop. So aren't you the lucky ones that get to step up and see the Finished Hot Mess lol

I could have done better, but I just didn't have the time for a re-do. So there you have it. Hot Mess Fail and all.

Thank you for reading and please check back tomorrow. I'm planning on trying something new that I've never done, but have been wanting to. Also check out the ladies below :)
