Mermaid Nails

This is another mani from the vault that I never posted. I went through a lot of pictures and I ended up deleting quite a few manis due to the fact that they were pretty old and clean up wasn't that great, therefore I decided it was best to just delete them. One that made it to see the light of day is my first try at mermaid nails.

I started out with 2 coats of Orly "Halley's Comet"

"Halley's Comet" went on smooth and was very opaque. I just love this polish. It really makes me think of a mermaid!

I then used Sinful Colors "Nail Junkie" on the top 2/3rd's of the nail.

"Nail Junkie" is a wonderful teal colored jelly polish packed with different size and shades of blue and gold glitters.

I wanted to add a little more gold to my nails so I added a very thin layer of Spoiled "Pirate's Booty" to the entire nail.

To make this actually look like a mermaid, I stamped over the nails with a basic silver polish using Mash stamping plate #39.

I really like how this turned out... even though the stamping isn't perfect, but that is my fault, not the plate or polishes fault :)

In the end I am very happy with the end result, but I do plan on trying this one again.

What do you think? Have you tried doing mermaid nails?

Thanks so much for reading. Please keep an eye out for my up coming giveaway. I just want to share  some of my current favorite things. Have a great day!!!

Disturbed Polish - Prude

Edit: I have been told by Annette, the owner of Disturbed Polish, that she now uses a new base, so any mention of the smell in my posts regarding these polishes is no longer and issue. I hope that everyone gives this brand a chance because I think they are awesome, and everyone should own at least a few.

Sorry for not posting in the last few days. I've been feeling a bit under the weather, mainly due to it being that time of the month lol. Today I have another Disturbed Polish to show you. This on is called "Prude"

Here's a quick bottle shot. How awesome is that! I don't even think I could name all the glitters in this bottle, but the main colors are pink, blue, silver, and black. It took me a little bit to figure out a good base for this glitter polish. This is what I came up with.

I started out with a glue base then 2 coats of Sally Hansen "Eel Skin." This is a nice light grey that tilts towards blue.

Originally I was only going to add another polish to the ring finger, but I really liked how it looked so I added it to all my nails.

The polish I layered on top of "Eel Skin" was 2 coats of Orly "Bluebell" I really love how these two polishes look together. It gives the nails a nice depth and I think it works really good with the glitter.

Look at how pretty that is!

"Prude" applied great. The glitter went on smooth and evenly. I used 2 coats, and like "Garbage Disposal" I love this polish! I also like that it laid flat and wasn't a topcoat eater to make it smooth.

I think there is a great combination of colors and shapes. I feel a bit spoiled with these polishes because the application is so wonderful, I use to usually dabbing chunky glitter on the nail or fishing, but not with these.

I highly recommend this brand. If you haven't checked them out yet you really should. Disturbing Behavior also sells some handmade jewelry that looks pretty awesome.

Well that's it for today. Thanks for reading and if you haven't done so already make sure to enter my giveaway. It ends in a few days.

Day 29: Inspired By The Supernatural

Only one more day left!!! I really thought I would have dropped out of this challenge a llloooonnnggg time ago. I think that having my friend Rachel from Polished Criminails start the challenge made me keep at it. It always helps to have a friend doing something along with you to keep you motivated.

So today is supernatural day... I had no clue what to do. I stopped at Sally Beauty on my way home from the dog park today and I was so happy that I did. They had just put out the China Glaze Halloween collection. I ended up getting the 4 piece set and then the other 3 separate polishes to complete the whole set. I really wanted to use a few of them so this is what I came up with....

These are the polishes I used, only 2 of them are from the new Halloween set.
Orly "Au Champagne", "Faint o Heart", Wet N Wild "French White Creme", China Glaze "Rougish Red", "Liquid Leather", "Immortal", and "Ghoulish Glow"

lol Yeah this is my lovely creation lol. I really wanted some evil eyes. So I used "Immortal" as the base on my ring, middle, and thumb nails, and "Faint of Heart" as the base on my other 2 nails.

Doing the best I could I used "Liquid Leather" to make a headstone and my eye shapes.

My thumb is suppose to be a full moon, and the pinkie is suppose to me red eyes looking out from the mist.

Hehehe I also used some glow-in-the-dark polish :)

Alright, only one day left. Make sure to check back to see it. Thank you all so much for reading. And check out the ladies below!

Day 22: Inspired By A Song

Today is "Inspired By A Song" day. I have a couple different songs that I've been loving right now, and not many of them I could come up with a mani idea for. The song I ended up picking is "Nothing But The Water" by Grace Potter and The Nocturnals.

I couldn't find a music video for this song, but I was about to find the song on YouTube:

I love this song!!! Ok on to my mani... Obviously I was going for a water theme.

I know, I know, I broke my promise. I said I wasn't going to do another gradient for the rest of this challenge, but I felt that a gradient was the only way to go about accomplishing what I pictured in my head. I started out with 2 coats of Piggy Polish "It's All About Blue" and also used it for the gradient along with...

Orly "Skinny Dip" and...

China Glaze "Splish Splash"

I think these polishes worked perfect together and created the perfect water look.

The gradient is very subtle but noticeable. I also found it very calming :)

I used OPI "My Boyfriend Scales Walls" and a nail art brush to create the sea foam from the waves, and I even included a couple birds in the sky :) This is the only polish that wasn't an untried.

Since I always have to add a little sparkle I sponged on a little Layla Hologram Effects "Ocean Rush" on the tips of my nails.

They didn't turn out exactly as I had pictured in my head but I still really like how they turned out. I love them and I really feel like I'm looking into the water.

I think the Layla polish is what really made it as great as it is. My nails look so much better in person, these pictures couldn't capture all of the awesomeness of them.

Now I have to think about what I'm going to do tomorrow for my movie nails.... totally not sure yet. Oh and just for your enjoyment this is how I had to edit all of my pictures:
My younger pup Stitch just "had" to lay on me. I just jumped up and made himself comfortable. I didn't have the heart to move him lol. He's lucky he's cute :)

Well thanks for reading, and check back tomorrow for my movie nails. And don't forget to check out the other ladies' blogs below:

Day 19: Galaxy

Galaxies... I've been looking forward to and dreading this day, dreading tomorrow even more. I love all the galaxy manis I see, but I felt like I'd never be able to pull off a decent one, so I just kept putting it off. I'm happy to report that I'm actually pretty happy with this one. I've also made a few mental notes for next time. I'm not going to bore you will a lot of words today... just a lot of pictures :)

For the base of my galaxy I used 2 coats of Orly "Androgynie" I felt the glitter in it gave a good illusion of far off planets.

I added 1 coat of Misa "Sweet Pleasure" for a little otherworldly glow.

Next I randomly sponged on Wet N Wild "Bow In My Presence" and...

Wet N Wild "Jewels For Your Highness"

Then using a nail art brush and a dotting tool, I used 3 polishes to create me other spacy items :) OPI "Alpine Snow"

 Sinful Colors "Cinderella"
and Essence "Oh My Glitter!" and I finished it all off with a coat of OTD "Northern Lights" Topcoat

 Left Hand

 Right Hand
Orly "Androgynie", Misa "Sweet Pleasure" Wet N Wild "Bow In My Presence" and "Jewels For Your Highness"
OPI "Alpine Snow", Sinful Colors "Cinderella", Essence "Oh My Glitter!", and OTD "Northern Lights"
 Left Hand
 Right hand.

I forgot to mention that I used glue as my base since I knew I was going to use more then a couple glitter polishes. I must say that the glue does hold up pretty well. About an hour or 2 after I finished my nails I took a shower. I figured if they got messed up it wasn't that big of a deal since I had already taken the pictures. Well After my shower, and I didn't try to protect them either, they looked just like they did before my shower. There wasn't any smudges, dents, gouges, peeling or anything of the sort. And they peeled off really easy when it came to be removal time.

Well that's it for today thank you all for reading and remember to check back tomorrow for my attempt at water marble. Also check out the other ladies below.
