4th of July Skittles

I couldn't decide what to do for a 4th of July mani, so I kinda just did a little of everything. I used more polishes then I thought I would lol.

These are all the polishes I used: Finger Paints "Santa's Magic" Hard Candy "Fireworks" Fing'rs Heart 2 Art "Star Crossed Lovers" Wet N' Wild Fergie "Hollywood Walk Of Fame" Essie "Blanc" China Glaze "Splish Splash" and Zoya "Sarah"

I started out with a base coat of Essie "blanc" it's been my go to white polish. It applies well, but it needed 3 coats to be fully opaque. I used 3 coats for a good starting point. I then started painting... This is what I ended up with:

Here is the break down of each nail. All are over 3 coats of white.

On my thumbs I used 2 coats of Zoya "Sarah" and using a striping brush I used Essie "blanc" again. This is suppose to be like the stripes on the flag.

Next on the pointer finger I had to have the blue with stars, so I did 2 coats of China Glaze "Splish Splash" This polish is from last years summer neon collection (which is still one of my favorite collections) Application was smooth and opaque.

I then used Fing'rs Heart 2 Art "Star Crossed Lovers" for the stars. They were being a pain so I used a dotting tool to place the stars in random places.

On my middle fingers I applied Wet N' Wild Fergie "Hollywood Walk Of Fame" again I had to use a dotting tool to place the stars, and I didn't even realize I put them in a circle until I was editing the photos. It makes me think of fireworks :)

The ring fingers are 2 coats of Hard Candy "Fireworks" the combo of red and blue made me think of the 4th so I though it was fitting. I wasn't crazy about this polish. It applies to messy for my likes. I think I might have liked it a little better if I had put it over a red base so that it looked more opaque.

On my pinky nails I just applied 2 coats of Finger Paints "Santa's Magic" It applied nicely and I had no issues with it.

After all of this was done I still felt like it needed something.

 Hmmmmm......

AH HA!!! Just add a glitter top coat :) That always makes everything better! So that is just what I did.

I guess it will do. I think if I would have thought about it more I think I could have come up with something better.

So what do you think? Does it make you think of 4th of July?

Thanks for reading and have a great holiday!!

Festival Of Lights

Today's theme is "Festival Of Lights" I've been looking forward to this one because I've been wanting to try our the string lights nail art. I wanted it to look like light strung up outside so I started with a white base.

I started with 2 coats of China Glaze 'White On White" the first coat was a bit streaky, but the second coat evened it all out. I wanted to make it look a little more like snow, so....

I added 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri "In A Flash" which gave my nails a bit of a frosty look, which I felt gave it the perfect look.

After I added a quick dry coat to the base, I used a nail art pen to create the black lines which is the "string" part of the lights.
Then using a dotting tool I added the colors randomly to each nail. At first I thought it looked to crowded, but then I realized that's how it should look :)

The colors I used are: China Glaze 'Dorothy Who?'

 China Glaze 'Ruby Pumps'

 China Glaze 'Running In Circles'

 Wet N Wild '9.0.2.1.Orange'

and Wet N Wild 'The Gold & The Beautiful"

I really like how it turned out and I next time I'll try and space out the "lights' a little more and see how that turns out.

Thank you for reading and please let me know what you think and don't forget to check out the other ladies below :)

Oh and I have some awesome polishes set aside for my next giveaway (which will be when I reach 600 followers)

Nerd Alert: Sticks and Stones

This is a shortish post, but I've been wanting to share it. These are two polishes that I just love, I even made a ring to match this mani :)

I started out with 2 coats (maybe 3 lol) Wet N Wild "Nerd Alert: Screech" which was from the Saved By The Nail Collection. I use to watch Saved By The Bell so I made sure to get this collection.
I layered 2 coats of Ninja Polish "Sticks and Stones" This is the only indie polish I own and it took me months and tons of swatch pictures to finally break down and buy it.
"Sticks and Stones" has looked beautiful over everything I put it on, but I really love this combo since green is one of my favorite colors, So I'm just loving this mani!!!
One thing I never noticed in all the swatches I saw was that there is a sprinkle of holographic glitter mixed in, and I think it gives this polish a little something more.
If your like me, and you don't normally lean towards indie polishes, I highly suggest that you get this polish. I don't think any collection is complete without it.
Well that's it for today I hope you liked this post. Please remember to follow me if you aren't already. Thanks for reading!

Oh My Toxic Glitter Apple! Gradient

I love gradients. I was missing them during the 30 day challenge last month. I wanted to try new things so I told myself to not do any gradients unless there was no other option. So I've been missing them quite a bit and I think this gradient makes for a great comeback!!! Let me know what you think.

I used Wet N Wild "Toxic Apple" and...

 Essence "Oh My Glitter!

I love this gradient so much. It looks so much more drool-worthy in person.

"Oh My Glitter!" has a strong gorgeous pink shimmer... BEAUTIFUL!!!

The pink shimmer shows up so much more in person too.

Both of these polishes applied great and they worked wonderful for a gradient. I think it works as a Halloween mani too which works out great since it's October.

October is also the 1 year anniversary of my blog, and I can't believe that I have 300 followers. I just want to thank everyone for reading my blog and following me. I really want to have a giveaway for all of this, but I have to hold off a little longer, but I promise to have one soon to thank you all for being so awesome!!!

Thanks for reading and watch for my up coming giveaway!

Day 30: Inspired By A Tutorial... Last Day!!!

So here we are, It's the last day of the 30 day challenges. I can't believe I made it and that I didn't miss a day. I had a lot of fun, and I stepped out of my comfort zone a few times. I'm really glad I did this challenge. I now have a few new techniques in my arsenal. All that said, I'm really happy that it's over lol. There were so many days that I wanted to do something that didn't work with the days theme, like I finally bought Ninja Polish "Sticks N Stones" and I've been dying to wear it. Now I'll finally be able to :)

Alright enough blah blah blah, and on to the last challenge. Today is "Inspired By A Tutorial." It was kinda funny because I kept looking online to figure out what I was going to do, only to remember that I had already decided. It's been a long weekend. I've been dealing with migraines for the past 2 days.

What I decided to do is actually my second go at this technique and the first time wasn't that great, and I figured out a trick on accident from doing yesterday's mani.

Some call it the spun sugar mani or the drizzle... whatever you call it I really like the effect. I started with a base of 2 coats of Sinful Colors "Jungle Trail"

For the "drizzle" I used Wet N Wild "Miami Spirit" and...

China Glaze "Under The Boardwalk"

The trick I learned to make this easier was to put a few drops of polish, about 5 or 6, on a palette and to let it sit for a few minutes until it starts drying. Then using a dotting tool mix it around and, Volia!, stringy polish!

I really like how it turned out but I still felt like it needed a little sparkle :)

So I added a coat of Northern Lights :)

This time it turned out a lot better the my first try... which you can find here.

I guess the second time is a charm for me on this one. Now that I know how to do it I know I'll be doing it again in the future. It is a pretty messy and time consuming technique, but I think it is worth it.

Well that ends the 30 day challenge! Thank you so much for reading and following my progress. This has really gotten me into the routine of blogging a lot more then I use to and I am going to try and keep it up. I don't know if I will do every day, but I will do more then a couple times a month.

Don't forget to check out the other ladies below, and again thanks so much for reading and following my blog.

Day 29: Inspired By The Supernatural

Only one more day left!!! I really thought I would have dropped out of this challenge a llloooonnnggg time ago. I think that having my friend Rachel from Polished Criminails start the challenge made me keep at it. It always helps to have a friend doing something along with you to keep you motivated.

So today is supernatural day... I had no clue what to do. I stopped at Sally Beauty on my way home from the dog park today and I was so happy that I did. They had just put out the China Glaze Halloween collection. I ended up getting the 4 piece set and then the other 3 separate polishes to complete the whole set. I really wanted to use a few of them so this is what I came up with....

These are the polishes I used, only 2 of them are from the new Halloween set.
Orly "Au Champagne", "Faint o Heart", Wet N Wild "French White Creme", China Glaze "Rougish Red", "Liquid Leather", "Immortal", and "Ghoulish Glow"

lol Yeah this is my lovely creation lol. I really wanted some evil eyes. So I used "Immortal" as the base on my ring, middle, and thumb nails, and "Faint of Heart" as the base on my other 2 nails.

Doing the best I could I used "Liquid Leather" to make a headstone and my eye shapes.

My thumb is suppose to be a full moon, and the pinkie is suppose to me red eyes looking out from the mist.

Hehehe I also used some glow-in-the-dark polish :)

Alright, only one day left. Make sure to check back to see it. Thank you all so much for reading. And check out the ladies below!
