Hard Candy Holiday Polishes

Today I am going to be showing you the holiday mini nail polishes from Hard Candy found at Wal-Mart. They released a 5 piece set and 8 individual polishes. And here they all are for your viewing pleasure.

side note: I had to go to a few different Wal-Marts to find them all.

Here are all 8 of the individual polishes:
and here are the 5 from the set, without the box... I threw it out before I took a picture :(... sorry.

Since these are such small bottles I decided to swatch them on a nail wheel (or whatever you call them lol) so I numbered the bottle and swatches to correspond with each other since they do not have any names or anything. All swatches are 1 coat.

#1: A basic silver with micro glitter, nothing totally special but it's still pretty.
#2: This one is kind of a redish pinkish color. It has a shimmer in it and is really pretty in person.
#3: I guess this could be considered more of a tangerine then an orange. This one also has shimmer
#4: Your run of the mill black w/silver glitter. This is also very similer to their "Mischief" from the 2010 holloween collection I was able to find last month at Wal-mart in clearance.

sorry about the hair lol
#5: In the bottle this looked similar to #1, but on the nail it is totally different. #1 was pack with micro silver glitter, where #5 has very sparse small round silver glitter and smallish hex silver glitter.
#6: It's hard to see but this one has a faint yellow base and has gold micro glitter (dupe of #11)
#7: I was looking forward to this one the most since I love green. It's not bad, the green base is very pretty and I really like the green glitter that is a little bit dark color then the base. (dupe of #12)
#8: This is a dupe of #3
#9: This is a lovely purple and I love glitter so this is a win :) I thought that this would be a dupe of #10, so I put them next to each other on the color wheel, but I was wrong and very surprised.

sorry about the red speck on #12 I had an accident with another polish so please ignore that :) Thanks!!
#10: This is one of my surprise favorites for this collection. It has a very pretty purple-to-blue color shift in it that I was not expecting.
#11: dupe of #6
#12: dupe of #7
#13: This is a nice bright blue with shimmer in it that makes me think of a nice clean ocean or some crystal clean water source lol

Most of these polishes are very pretty and totally worth $1 each. There are a couple that aren't anything special, to me anyways. Everyone likes different things :) If you want to get them all I do want to remind you that 3 of the polishes in the 5-piece set are dupes for 3 or the individual polishes. The only difference in these polishes are the size of the bottles, the individual ones ar 4ml and the set are 3ml. I have them shown here:

So if you are wanted to get each color I would suggest getting the set and the black, blue, silver, red/pink, and the purple in the individual ones.

Men and nail polish That's right a guy has a nial polish blog. I think it's great. Polish shouldn't be just for girls. You should be able to indulge yourself with polish no matter what your gender is! So please show if you agree with him and everyone should be allowed to enjoy polish no matter what and not be judged.

My First Swap!!!

I was so excited to have my very first swap recently. I was looking for China Glaze "Zombie Zest" one day and I came across a blog... the link I originally found wasn't the correct address, but I found my way lol. I found Nailxchange!!!! Sylwia is from Canada and she had a bottle of "Zombie Zest" up for a swap. After I did a little happy dance in my chair at work..... yes I look at blogs at work lol. It's a small office, so I get away with a lot:).... I sent her an email.

Sylwia is awesome. She is so nice and we talked and made arrangements to swap polishes. I just received mine yesterday and wanted to show you what I got... but first you should go check out her blog because she is having a blog sale before she moves to Greece... How awesome is that??? So go take a look at what she has, you might find something you like: NailXchange Blog Sale

OK so now on to what I received.... (sorry the pictures aren't the greatest. My lens broke so I had to use an old one off a manual camera lol)

From L to R: Joe Fresh "Peacock", "Twilight", China Glaze "Zombie Zest", and Maybelline "Ruby Rays" and "Pink Pinata"

 Flakies :)
"Zombie Zest" hehe so happy... oh and the polish I'm wearing is a franken I made and I'll be posting about it soon, so watch for that coming soon ;)
These were actually a surprise to get but I was really excited because I don't really have any flakies other than Nubar 2010.

So those are my newest pretties and I will be showing you "Twilight" on my next post. Until then don't forget to go check out Sylwia's blog sale !!! If you have any questions or comments please leave them below and thanks for reading:)

Remaining Pure Ice Swatches

I have the other 3 of the 5 Pure Ice colors I bought at Walgreens. I have the blue "All Night Long" the red "Super Star" and the green "Tease Me"

First up is "All Night Long":
This is a beautiful blue. It went on like a dream and I could have gotten away with one coat but I decided to do two anyways. This polish dried very shiny and so pretty. Again since I can't leave anything alone and I love to layer I added a coat of Klean Color "Cream Pearl" (Which I got this past weekend in my latest haul, will be on the next post) on top.

I was kinda sad that this polish dulled "All Night Long" some but I still like how it turned out. "Cream Pearl" is a tranlucent white base with blue, pink, and purple flecks in it. It is so pretty :)

Next up is "Super Star":

This is a very pretty red and I love the colors in it. There are gold and red  flecks in it make it muh different they any of my other reds. Again I layered it :) I used Pure Ice "Oh Baby" which made this much much pretier lol It's got all the colors of the rainbow hehe.

How pretty is that? :)

Last and sadly in my opinion least.... "Tease Me"

I was so disappointed with this polish. I love green and I wanted to love this color, but it just couldn't I don't know why. My mom liked it and so did a few others... Green is my favorite color so I was really surprised on how I felt about it. I figured layering something over it couldn't hurt anything, so that's what I did.

*Quick note: after I took this picture and I set my camera down it slid and fell on the ground and something inside of the lens broke, so this was the last pic i took with my nice Nikon D40 :( so until I can get a new camera I'll have to use my coolpix point and shoot... that said here are pics of my layering...

So there you have it. I think out of the 5 my favorites were the purple and the gold. Have you tried any of the otehr colors? Which one is your favorite?

Please leave any questions and comments below and  don't forget to follow my blog. Thanks for reading!!

My storage solution...

I've been looking for a type of storage unit for my growing polish collection. I considered getting a helmer from Ikea but I didn't want to spend $40 and then an additional $20+ for shipping since there is no Ikea in Wisconsin. So I decided to keep looking around to see what I could find.

After work one day I went to one of my local Goodwill store to see what I could find....

I found this....

If you don't know what this is then that means I must be old lol. This is one of those storage units people used to organize their VHS tapes lol. I looked at it for a few minutes and started to see some real potential. I ended up buying 2 of them for $0.99 each.. I figured that if it didn't work out I would only be out $2 lol.

Here is what the drawers look like inside....

I decided that to give me a little more room in the drawers I decided to try and "remove" the little divider things. This is what I ended up with...
So all in all it really worked out great. depending on the size of the bottles I can get about 45-50 bottles in each drawer which is about 100 bottles per unit.

I also used labels so I knew what is in each drawer. I separated my polishes by brand.. I know a lot of girls organize by color but I prefer by brand for some reason lol
So I had the 2 units and some white drawer things I had bought a couple weeks before that... This is what it all looked like...
Both of these were almost full already lol.... So I found myself at another Goodwill :) I decided to look around to see if I could find more. I got lucky. I found 4 identical units but they were $1.99, but that still beats $40+ and they work just as good.

So here is what I have right now. I have one empty unit that I didn't need just yet so I put it aside for when I do. The drawers aren't totally full, there is plenty of room for growth with these units....
Not sure if you can see it but the drawer labled "L.A. Colors" is cracked... Yeh I had a dumb moment and I was trying to take a picture of the polish in the drawer and just after I took the picture the drawer fell out and the polish went every where lol. But it still works find, it's just cosmetic.

So what do you think of my solution?? Do you think you would give this a try? Did you find a different solution besides a helmer? Please leave any comments or questions below and don't forget to follow by blog. Thanks for reading!!!!
