Multiple Hot Mess Mardi Gras Mani's

I really wanted to do something for Mardi Gras since I wasn't going to do anything else other then work. lol the ideas in my head looked great.... and on the nail they were a big ol' hot mess lol I did 3, and the last stayed on my nails only because I was to tired to try a fourth time... I used the same 3 basic colors for all three: O.P.I. - "DS Glow", Spoiled - "I'm So Jaded", Spoiled - "Pet My Peacock", and China Glaze - "Gothic Lolita" so here they are in all of their failed glory:

I was trying to do some sponging... but it didn't look good at all. The big chunky glitter doesn't really help lol

This was suppose to be a gradient I guess, but it just looks like some goofy candy corn. So another failure in my book.

I think if I hadn't added the black I would have been happier with this one. I decided to just leave it on since I was too tired to go for fail #4... I also used China Glaze - Golden Enchantment for this one.
So this was just a big disappointment, but I guess if you don't try you never know how it will turn out... so i will chalk it all up to a learning experience.

I decided to give my eyes a try instead this morning since I'm a bit better in that department lol. The pictures are the greatest but I did my best :)
From the inner corner out I used Venomous - "Green Mamba", Fyrinnae - :Lucky Charmed" and Tick:Tock - "Methusela" and for the highlighting I used Fyrinnae - "Moon Child"

And this is the girl behind the blog... Me!! lol

So Happy Mardi Gras and thanks for reading. If you have any questions or comments please do so below. I hope to have a giveaway soon so keep an eye out for that :)

My Monday Lunch Time Haul

So where I work I get a 2 hour lunch Mon, Wed, and Fri. Most times I just work through it, but on Monday I decided to just do some bumming around. I went to Sally's, Ulta, Walgreens, and CVS. This is what I ended up coming home with lol..... Hey I had 2 hours to kill :)

First I went to Walgreens to get a few Sinful Colors since the are on sale for $0.99 this week. So I picked out these pretties:
"Dream On" - Bright neon Purple
"Snow Me White" - Just a basic white, nothing special
"You Just Wait" - Pink with a duochrome of green. I think It will look awesome layered
"Daredevil" - Hot bright pink, with a bit of a blue hue to it

One thing I noticed is there is another color, "Bikini" that looks likes a dupe for "Daredevil" I held the bottles up to each other and they looked the exact same... So not sure what it going on with that, but I got "Daredevil" since I liked the name better lol. I'm looking for a good white polish so I figured I'd give SC a try. I also picked up "Just You Wait" and when I got home I realized I had already bought it awhile ago... oh well.

"Glass Pink" - A very sheer, sparkly pink
"Blue By You" - Bright blue with blue glass flecks
"Island Coral" - Light coral cream

I saw a swatch of "Island Coral" with "Just You Wait" layered over it... So pretty! To see it take a look at That's So Fresh's Blog

Also when I was at Walgreen's I saw they had the Nabi Magnetic nail polish display. This is the second Walgreen's I've seen them at. I snapped a photo of the display so you know what to look for:
The picture enlarges, so you can really see the colors. My phone takes really good photos lol... Anyway, I decided to pick up 2 more..
When I first posted about these polishes I was disappointed that they didn't have names... Well I realized that if you carefully peel the sticker off the bottom of the bottle, they do in fact, have a name and a number. Granted the name are boring, but at lease I have something to refer to them as lol. So I pick up "Purple" and "Dark Gold" I bet someone had a tough time coming up with those clever names lol.
I really liked the gold one because it looks like it has glitter in it... I can't wait to try it out.

Ok, So after Walgreen I went to CVS, I was still looking for a few more of the Spoiled polishes. I had a list of the ones I really wanted, I only have one more to go which is "Pet My Peacock" which I want mostly because of the name :) I did find 2 that I was looking for, 1 I just decided to try, and 1 I picked up and fell in love with:

"The Parking Meteor Expired" - I fell head over heels for this polish. I want to get a back up bottle. One the nail it looks almost black, but when you look closer you can see a blue tint to it (like in the picture) and there are glass fleck in blue, green, purple, and pink. Pictures could never capture the awesomeness of this polish. Just do you and you collection and go buy this NOW!!!!  :)
"Correction Tape" - Just another white I decided to try in my search for a good white polish
"Deeper Dive" - Teal with gold flakes, and I've heard it is a dupe for Zoya "Charla" which I don't have but you can find a good comparison on glamonthecheap's blog
"My Saturn Broke Down"

That was all for CVS... On to Ulta....
They had the new O.P.I. collection out so I grabbed the 2 I liked from seeing them on other blogs, and a random blue that caught my eye.
"Wooden Shoe Like To Know?" - light brown with a golden-copper shimmer
"Yoga-Ta Get This Blue" - A very pretty deep blue that I'm not sure how to describe
"Gouda Gouda Two Shoes" - Dirty rose pink with shimmer

Lastly I went to Sally's
China Glaze "Some Like It Haute" FingerPaints set included "Curator's Crimson" and "Vintage Violet" and a small bag, China Glaze "Blonde Bombshell"

Both of the China Glaze's are from the Eye Candy collection. I couldn't remember which ones I had but since they were on sale I didn't care lol. I already had "Blonde Bombshell" so it will go in my swap pile:)

OMG! The FingerPaint's were a great deal. 2 polishes and a small bag for only $3. I was lucky :)

Well there you have it. That's what I did during my lunch. I do have a swatch for the purple Nabi polish, and I will try to get it up by the end of the week.

Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions or comments please leave them below. Have a great night!! Oh and here is a cute pic I found. Koala's are my favorite animal :)
Probably how my fiance is going to be when he sees this post lol

Mani & A mini Spoiled Haul!

Today I have a mani to show you and some Spoiled polishes that I have added to my ever growing collection. So without further ado, here is my mani...

This mani was done using  coats of "Armed and Ready" by Essie and 2 coats of "Sub-Lime" by Piggy Polish.
"Armed and Ready" is a murky brownish color with a duo chrome color of coppery gold. I love how it looks on the nail, but it is just really hard to capture it on camera.
"Sub-Lime" has a hint of gold flecks in it that really gives it some depth and make a unique green to own I was lucky enough to find it on clearance (as you can tell by the sticker lol). This is a beautiful color and a great addition to my collection as well.

You can really see the duo chrome when it is in the bottle. It translates well onto the nail, just hard to get it on camera. It pretty much looks like this when on the nail.

Ok, now here are some more of the Spoiled polishes that I picked up. I'm still looking to pick up a few more and then I will have all of the ones that I wanted from seeing the promo shots :) Here is what I recently picked up:
Battle Of The Sexes, Cougar Attack, Are Mermaids Real?, Shrimp On The Barbie, Shuffle The Deck, Use Protection, Jewelry Heist

I'm not the greatest in describing polishes, but i'll try:
"Battle Of The Sexes" is a Blue, Purple, and Pink glitter in a clear base
" Cougar Attack" is Copper glitter a brownish base
"Are Mermaids Real?" is a purple with goldish flecks/duo chrome

"Shrimp On The Barbie" is similar to "Are Mermaids Real?" except it is pink
"Shuffle The Deck" is Black, Red, and Silver large round glitter in a clear base
"Use Protection" is similar to "I Have A Confection To Make" except it is pink
"Jewelry Heist" is jewel tones large round glitter in a clear base

Would you like to see a mani done with any of these colors? Do you own any of these? Which are your favorites?
If you have any questions or comments please leave them below. And as always, that you so much for reading!!

Nabi Magnetic Polishes.... by reader request :)

On Sunday I post my hail pics from the day and some of the polishes I got were magnetic polishes by the brand Nabi that I found at Walgreens. I got a couple requests to do some swatches from tubcat and thepeach, so here they are :)

These polishes do not have names, so I will just refer to them by their colors, Silver, Gold, and Green. These are the first Nabi polishes I've ever bought and my first magnetic polishes. The first con I noticed with these is that the magnet it part of the bottle cap. The magnets can not be removed from the cap so it is a little bit of a pain in the but. The second issue I had (before even buying them) was there was no lip on the magnet on which to rest upon my finger so I didn't touch it to my nail. Bu I decided to still give them a try since it's the newest trend.

These were $5.98 each I believe, which isn't too bad. I really liked the colors and couldn't wait to give them a try. There are a total of 3 different magnet design so I made sure to get one of each. The designs are straight lines, diagonal lines, and chevrons. I figured if they sucked as magnetic polishes at least I still liked the colors lol, just thinking positive :)

I love greens so I decided to try that one first. The bottle says to use one coat and then the magnet... but I ignored it and did one coat to cover the nail and then a second coat with the magnet. For the first coat the polish went on smooth with no issues. The coverage was good too. I applied the second coat one nail at a time and used the chevron magnet from the gold bottle. This is what I got....

The outcome.... not great lol. I think it wasn't just me that failed but the polish too. It is a tricky thing to do. Why? Well here's why...

Reason #1: The magnet is flat... Nails are not, they have a roundish surface... (you know what I mean, right?) So to get the design on the full nail and not just the center of the nail you have to figure out how to rotate either your finger or the magnet, but no so much as to ruin the design.

Reason #2: I think I should have used a thicker 2nd coat since this polished seemed to dry pretty fast.. at least to me it seemed that way.

Reason 3#: I haven't tried other magnetic polishes or the other magnets so I don't know if the are stronger or something, maybe a stronger magnet would produce a stronger design...

I don't know yet...

I decided to give the other two a try.

The gold polish was so awesome. It looks just like a tigers eye stone. The application was really great and I love it. The silver is really pretty too. When you look at it in person you can see all the different color fleck that are in the polish. Application for the silver was.. crappy. The other two colors I only needed a total of 2 coats. With the silver I had to do 4 total. The polish was very sheer and seemed just a bit watery to me, but It's still pretty so I guess it was worth the work lol.

Getting a hang of the magnets are going to take some practice. I used all three magnets in the pics of the silver and gold swatches. My index and ring finger I used the diagonal, on the index finger was the chevron, and on my pinky I used the straight lines.

My final verdict:
I like the polishes but I wish the magnets were a bit different, but I would still buy them since the colors are beautiful and they seems to work good with some practice :) Practice makes perfect does it not. One other thing to note about them is they do have a little bit of a stink smell to them, but it goes away quick and doesn't linger after drying.

Do you plan on getting any polishes from this line? Do you already have some?

Please leave any questions or comments below and as always that you for reading. :)
