Day 20: Water Marble

Ugh.... I've been dreading this day since the start of this challenge. I can never get it to work. And by the off chance I get a decent design something goes wrong lol.... I must say I am proud of myself. I did a decent job... It took me hours (Really hours) but I got something worth showing. I only did one hand, because 1.) I was exhausted by the time I got on a roll, 2.) I felt like I had wasted a lot of polish with all my fails, and 3.) I just couldn't justify more of that hell to only wear it one day. So here is my result...

I started out with 2 coats of OPI "My Boyfriend Scales Walls" which is one of my favorite underwear polishes.

See, not so bad huh? Well the polishes I used were Finger Paints "Sexy Sundress"

 Finger Paints"Flip Flop Fuchsia"

 Finger Paints "Beach Bound"

and Nina Ultra Pro "Anaconda Liked It" Which I think is a really weird name for this polish... but whatever lol.
All in all I think it was a win. I still need to work on it. My main problem is getting the polish to spread and not just sit where it is dropped. I've tried different containers, different water, different polish, and even different temperatures. Nothing seems to do the trick. Oh well we can't all be good at everything.

Tomorrow starts the "Inspired by" part of the challenge. We are now 2/3of the way through this. I'm proud that I've stuck it out this long. thanks for reading and encouraging me throughout this challenge with your comments. Check back for tomorrow's mani and remember to check out the other blogs below!!

Day 19: Galaxy

Galaxies... I've been looking forward to and dreading this day, dreading tomorrow even more. I love all the galaxy manis I see, but I felt like I'd never be able to pull off a decent one, so I just kept putting it off. I'm happy to report that I'm actually pretty happy with this one. I've also made a few mental notes for next time. I'm not going to bore you will a lot of words today... just a lot of pictures :)

For the base of my galaxy I used 2 coats of Orly "Androgynie" I felt the glitter in it gave a good illusion of far off planets.

I added 1 coat of Misa "Sweet Pleasure" for a little otherworldly glow.

Next I randomly sponged on Wet N Wild "Bow In My Presence" and...

Wet N Wild "Jewels For Your Highness"

Then using a nail art brush and a dotting tool, I used 3 polishes to create me other spacy items :) OPI "Alpine Snow"

 Sinful Colors "Cinderella"
and Essence "Oh My Glitter!" and I finished it all off with a coat of OTD "Northern Lights" Topcoat

 Left Hand

 Right Hand
Orly "Androgynie", Misa "Sweet Pleasure" Wet N Wild "Bow In My Presence" and "Jewels For Your Highness"
OPI "Alpine Snow", Sinful Colors "Cinderella", Essence "Oh My Glitter!", and OTD "Northern Lights"
 Left Hand
 Right hand.

I forgot to mention that I used glue as my base since I knew I was going to use more then a couple glitter polishes. I must say that the glue does hold up pretty well. About an hour or 2 after I finished my nails I took a shower. I figured if they got messed up it wasn't that big of a deal since I had already taken the pictures. Well After my shower, and I didn't try to protect them either, they looked just like they did before my shower. There wasn't any smudges, dents, gouges, peeling or anything of the sort. And they peeled off really easy when it came to be removal time.

Well that's it for today thank you all for reading and remember to check back tomorrow for my attempt at water marble. Also check out the other ladies below.

Day 18: Half Moon = Epic Fail

UPDATED: See the end of the post for swatches of the other polish I used for this mani, but forgot to take pics of!!

So I have a total Epic Fail for you today. I don't know what I was thinking last night. So normally I do the days challenge the night before. I did today's half-moon last night, and tomorrows galaxy tonight. I work during the day and it's just want works out the best for me.... anyways. I was at Walgreens yesterday during lunch and I bought 2 of the new L'Oreal Project Runway polishes. I figured I would use them both right away. Well I started out....

2 coats of OPI "Oh, Waiter!" from the recent Ulta collection.

This is one of my go-to underwear polishes. I like the fact that it's not bright white, yet not dark gray either. It's a nice neutral color and it applies great!

Next I did 3 coats of L'Oreal "The Temptress' Power" I was drawn to this color and it's mate, I think it was the green shimmer that did me in lol. It's mainly a golden, orangish brown with a strong green shimmer. Application was good, but very sheer. I did 3 coats over the underwear just to make sure I had even coverage.

But honestly, I think I may already have a dupe, if not more, in my collection already. This one may go into the swap pile. I love the color... but it's not an original one. I guess I felt I needed to buy it since it was like a pair with the other polish.

This is where the fail comes in... After I did the half-moon... I didn't take pictures :( WTF!!! I didn't even realize it until I was making this post. And I just finished my galaxy nails, so no re-do's right now.

I do plan on re-doing it tomorrow before I attempt my water marble... never caught the hang of it. I will post an update on the post with the other polish L'Oreal "The Temptress' Touch" which I love.

To make up for this fail here is a preview of tomorrow's galaxy nails, another first for me...

Thanks for reading. Check back tomorrow for an update on this post and too see my galaxy nails. Don't forget to check out the other blogs below. I bet none of them forgot to take their pictures lol.

UPDATE: This is the other polish I used, but forgot to take pictures of the finished project. Sorry about that :)
Bottle Shot:
L'Oreal "The Temptress' Touch" - This is easily one of my favorite greens I own. I don't think I have any other polish similar to this. It's just awesome in a bottle!!

I did the swatches on a nail wheel so you could see them next to each other.
Left "The Temptress' Power"; Right "The Temptress Touch"

Left 3 coats "The Temptress' Power"; Right 2 coats "The Temptress Touch"

One last picture for the road.... so pretty!!!

Day 17: Glitter

Today's theme was a bit vague... Glitter... I decided to try something new that I've never done before. I did a Jelly sandwich :) My first ever!!! And I love Love LOVE it!

Since I was going to be using glitter I used Elmer's glue as my base coat. You can't use anything between the nail and the glue, I learned that the hard way. After the glue fully dried I added 2 coats of Revlon "Rich Raspberry" It a bright happy medium between pink and purple. I found myself liking it more then I thought I would.

After that I applied 2 semi-thin coats of Orly 'Atomic Splash' I had to do a little dabbing with the brush, but for the most part it applied great. I didn't have to fish any glitters out either. I guess you could call this a gunmetal glitter. It's not sliver, or gray or even black. Kinda a mix of them all. Either way I liked it :)

I was originally going to use Butter London "Disco Biscuit" but I didn't give the effect I wanted so I ended up choosing Icing "Lipstick and Lovers"

2 coats of "Lipstick and Lovers" I love the blue shift and how clearly it translates from the bottle to the nail.

I think the way it changes the color of the glitter is pretty awesome.

All in all I am very happy with how this turned out and I am totally going to be doing more jelly sandwiches.. Which is funny because in real life I dislike jelly very much. I prefer just the peanut butter on toasted bread ugh.. yeh..... Umm so as you can see the color of the top polish affects the color of the glitter that lies below it.

Look at all the pretty blue shimmer :)

Well my friends, that's it for today. Thanks so much for reading and make sure to check back tomorrow for half-moon day. And remember to check out all the awesome manis below :)

Day 16: Tribal Print

Ugh.... Tribal Nails.... Where to begin. To begin, this was my least inspired day so far. I had absolutely no clue what to do. Honestly I was so tempted to just skip today, but I didn't. So I'm proud of myself that I stuck it out.

I figured I would just wing it since no amount of picture browsing on the internet was giving me any bit of inspiration,
I started out with 2 coats of Color Club "Wild Orchid' It's pretty much a light dusty purple with some silver shimmer mixed in...

You can see the shimmer better in the bottle shot, but it does translate well on to the nail. This was my untried polish for today.

Next using my black striper I started making random lines and a few dots here and there with a dotting tool.

Using in the same dotting tool I went over the dots using polish from my gold glitter striper.

I guess the result isn't horrible... but I wasn't really happy with it. I think part of my issue was that I couldn't find a good reference image to go from. I just threw this together. I like doing manis when I at least have a vague image of what I want to do in my head.

I think this is my biggest fail of the challenge so far. Oh well at least it's only for a day right!

Thanks for reading. Check back tomorrow for my glitter nails for Day 17. I'm very please with how they turned out :) Don't for get to look at the manis below as well. Take Care!!
