Day 37 of the 90 Day Challenge
I'm finally caught up with the 90 Day Challenge.. I really need to stay on top of this. Sometimes being a procrastinator isn't a good thing, but I guess the migraines don't help either... anyways...
I bought something new the other day... I got a couple pairs of scissors, but not just any pair of scissors.. these are awesome magical scissors... ok they aren't magical, but they are awesome. They are the ones scrapbookers use to make different designs on paper edges.
I got these at Wal-Mart in the office supply section, for kids. They were $1.67 each. I got all 3 of the ones in the set. They work great!! I used these to cut some tape to create designs, similar to how you use striping tape :) These are the "Ladybug" scissors... not sure what makes them ladybug like lol
The polishes I used in order are: essie "Play Date" Nicole by O.P.I. "Count On Me" China Glaze "Gothic Lolita" and Gosh "Gasoline"
I started out with 2 layers of "Play Date"... I hate this polish... It was thick, goopy, and a general pain in my lily white ass. As you can see it looks like a huge pile of poo. I wanted to just throw it in the trash, but I restrained myself. I may try using some thiner and give it another try. I did realize when looking for polishes for this manis that I don't really have a lot of light purples... I will have to fix that lol.
Since "Play Date" pissed me off so much I decided to layer something over it to make it look a bit better. I used "Count On Me" for this.
"Count On Me" gave it a nice bluish sheen and made it more appealing to me. I applied a coat of SV to my nails and waited a few minutes to make sure the polish was all dry so it wouldn't be pulled up by the tape.
Now the fun part began. I used my fun scissors and cut a few strips of tape, making sure I had enough to cover all 10 nails. After sticking a piece of tape about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of each nail and applied one coat of "Gothic Lolita"
After removing the tape I applied another coat of SV and waited a few more minutes. Using the same pieces of tape I re-placed them about 2/3 of the way up from the bottom of the nail and applied one coat of "Gasoline" to the top 1/3 of each nail.
I removed the tape and applied a final coat of SV and was finished. I've very happy with how it came out and plan on get some more scissors with different designs. So keep an eye out :)
That's it for today. I am really going to try and keep up with posting. I think I am going to do a giveaway as a way of saying sorry to all of my readers :) Keep a watch out for that, I'll get something together later this week.
